Headteachers Update

As I write this newsletter the Juniors is a hive of activity with members of 'The Friends of Woolton Hill Junior School' busily setting up for this evening's Woolfest! I'm very excited to be participating for the first time in this legendary event and I'm sure that all of our families will have a marvellous time.

I would like to thank all of the brilliant local businesses who have made the event possible; we are extremely grateful. In particular thanks must go to Inner Circle Catering for the food, Chris Pearce for DJing, Alfresco Marquee Hire, Platinum Bars and The MxX who will be performing. I would also like to thank Mr Chaffe, our caretaker, the school staff for all their help, the Friends committee and all the parents who have given up their time to help. Have a great evening.

September 2022

I am delighted to be able to inform you of our class/staff structure for September 2022. I am very excited about this team of staff and the strength of teaching that we will be able to offer in every year group across the Federation next year. This year has been about establishing the foundations for the future success of our new Federation and I am confident that this fantastic team will deliver consistently high standards for all of our pupils.

In addition, Mrs Waite, Ms Dunne, Miss Hicks, Miss Openshaw and Miss Villis will be working with specific pupils across both schools. Mrs Day, Mrs Elvin and Mrs Callow will be providing cover for teachers.

Please join me in congratulating Miss Smelt who is marrying James over the summer holiday and will return in September as Mrs Gorton.

I would like to introduce you to Mrs Cannings and Miss Villis who are joining our team. Miss Cannings is joining Owls class to work alongside Miss Macdonald as class teacher. She is a highly skilled teacher who taught a brilliant lesson interview. She will be in school this term, working with Miss Macdonald to carefully plan for next term. Miss Villis is joining our team of support staff at the Junior School. She has class teacher experience and a good knowledge of providing learning support to pupils.

We say goodbye to Mrs Watts who has gained a job on the support staff team at a school in the private sector. Mrs Watts has proven herself as a valuable member of our team for a number of years and will be greatly missed. We wish her luck for the new opportunity.

I would like to thank all of the parents who provided feedback on our current class structure. Very careful consideration has been made to our classes for September. Due to numbers at the Junior School, we are pleased to be back to having a stable lower school for Year 3/Year 4 children and an Upper School for Year 5/Year 6 children. This not only supports our curriculum but also ensures children are in classes with more children on their own age group next year.

Classes are first decided based on friendships, considering the choices the children made as well as their current teacher's knowledge of who they work and play well with. We ensure that all classes have a balance of boys and girls as well as a balance of different abilities in each class.

Many of our year groups have mixed age classes due to differing numbers in each year group. Where a class is a mixed year group, we also ensure there are equal numbers of each year groups in the class. This process of agreeing our classes is now finalised and will not change, we know all children have friends in their class and we hope they are now looking forward to meeting their new teacher and TAs on Wednesday 13th July. On this morning all children will join a special assembly, at both school, and will then find out their new class and join their new teacher and TA for the morning.

Teaching Assistant Vacancy

We are currently recruiting a new member of our support staff. If you would like to join our team, you can find out more information here.

Federation Sports Day

Our first Federation Sports day will be held on Tuesday July 5th at the Junior School. Please read this blog post which contains all the required information. The school gates will be open at 9.20am and the whole family is welcome to come along and show their support. A family picnic will take place at lunch and afterwards children are free to leave school with their family. The junior school kitchen staff will be serving tea, coffee and a small selection of snacks for parents throughout the morning, please bring cash to purchase these.

A reminder that school dinner accounts should be kept in credit and trips paid for promptly. Please can you ensure your child's account is up to date and any outstanding payments are made before the end of term, thank you.
