Key Information

Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)

Here at St Thomas CE Infant School, we are committed to meeting the special educational needs of all our children.  We strive to encourage and support children  to  succeed in all aspects of school life.  We provide a supportive, respectful and inclusive environment to enable children to thrive in learning and grow in confidence.

Our aim is to identify and provide support across the wide range of needs a child may have; communication and interaction, cognition and learning, social, emotional and mental health difficulties and sensory/physical needs.

For more information on how we support children with special educational needs at St Thomas CE Infant School, please read our policy and information report (including accessibility).

Pupil Premium

Introduced in 2011, Pupil Premium is a sum of money given to schools each year by the Government to improve the attainment of children who are or have been in receipt of free school meals.

Here at St Thomas CE Infant School, we are proud of the nurturing and academic opportunities we are able to provide our Pupil premium children with.  We aim to provide an educational experience that is inclusive for all. Staff support Pupil Premium students with High Quality Teaching and by  ensuring that they are provided with the same opportunities and experiences as their non-PP peers in every aspect of school life.

For more information on how we support our children, please see the following documents.

Sports Premium

The Department for Education website states:

  • The government is providing additional funding to improve provision of Physical Education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - will be allocated to primary school Headteachers

  • This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools

  • Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

COVID Catch-up

Following the COVID-19 Pandemic and subsequent closure of schools, the government issued an amount of catch-up funding to all schools to support with closing gaps in learning.  At St Thomas CE Primary School we have considered the complexities of our pupils when deciding how to allocate and spend our money.

Attendance

Going to school regularly is important for your child's future. At St Thomas CE Infant School we work closely with parents to improve pupil attendance and ensure children receive full-time education.

Remote Learning

St Thomas CE Infant School has developed a Remote Learning Offer  that supports home learning through our online platform Google Classroom.  We are meeting the challenges posed by the Covid lockdowns to ensure that our pupils can still access the same high quality curriculum, whether they are learning in school or at home.  Find out more below.

At St Thomas CE Infant School we have high standards for handling data and expectations for improved transparency, enhanced data security and increased accountability for processing personal data.
