Welcome to the

Friends of the Woolton Hill Schools

Introduction from the Chair

The Friends of the Woolton Hill Schools work hard to support the children and the school, with committees made up from Parents and Staff. They meet each 4 – 6 weeks and work closely with Mr Davies and the teaching staff to agree priorities for funding.

School Discos
Parents Quiz Night
Winter Wonderland
Woolfest
Family Fun Day

The funds raised, really do make an enormous difference to the quality of education for our children.  Projects we have recently supported at the school include: Purchase of phonics book resources to help with reading skills teaching; purchase of additional IT equipment to help with in class and home learning; improvements to the school buildings and grounds, both funded by us using external contractors and actually undertaken by parents working on the site.

There aren’t any particular skills required to be a member of the committee – our aim is to provide fun events and activities for everyone, that in turn benefit the children and the school. You don't have to be a parent to volunteer, grandparents and other members of the community are welcome to join.

We like to have fun and get involved with anything we can – If you would like to join our PTA, or help at any of our events, please get in touch with any member of the committee (for either Infant, or Junior)!

Some of our events

St Thomas' Infant PTA

St. Thomas’ PTA (Association of Parents and Friends) is an active committee of parents, that get together once a month to organise fantastic fundraising events for the school.

We work closely with Mr. Davies and the teaching staff to agree each terms fundraising goals. Some of the events we organise are; The Summer Social/Family Fun Day, Quiz Nights, Discos and The Winter Wonderland Christmas Fair.

Funds raised by the PTA at these events are used in a number of ways throughout the school including School trips, playground equipment, books and WOW days to name just a few!

Woolton Hill Junior School

We are a Friends association, which means that our members are all parents, carers and guardians of pupils currently at the school, teaching and non-teaching staff currently employed by the school, as well as anyone wishing to offer support or help to the school who the committee agree is suitable, for instance grandparents and valued members of the local community. We meet approximately every six weeks during term time. All members present have a vote at each meeting on our proposals.

Our objective is to advance the education of the pupils in the school:

  • developing effective relationships between staff, parents and others associated with the school.

  • engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.

We raise funds by engaging the school community so the school can use these funds to help further pupils’ education. We decide how to spend these funds through listening to the needs of Mr Davies and the staff, as well as the Governors and parents, and will decide as a Committee what the final expenditures should be.

Our main entertainment based fundraising events usually include:

  • WoolFest - a music and entertainment festival event held annually in the summer term

  • School Discos - held twice a year in the autumn and spring terms

  • We also raise funds through unwanted clothing donations, uniform donations, partaking in local charity events, selling refreshments at school events and via online shopping donation schemes.

Projects we have recently supported at the school include: Purchase of phonics book resources to help with reading skills teaching; purchase of additional IT equipment to help with in class and home learning; improvements to the school buildings and grounds, both funded by us using external contractors and actually undertaken by parents working on the site.

We also provide pre-loved uniform sales and a small benevolent fund to allow staff to care for hardship emergencies. Our major focus for the next academic year we expect to be on Outdoor Learning, involving renovation of the extensive school grounds to provide facilities for this important element of modern education practices.

What do the

"Friends" do

Both schools are now supported by a single PTA, the "Friends of the Woolton Hill Schools".

The Friends care about the enjoyment that our children have whilst at school. They make it their priority to provide fun events for them, whilst using the money they raise to give them the equipment they need to enhance their opportunities at school.

Another easy and free way is through The Giving Machine. All you have to do is shop normally via The Just Giving Machine and it will generate a cash donation straight to the school. If you haven’t already, join now! See here for instructions

You can support the school by donating right here and we can claim Gift Aid on your behalf (if you are eligible) increasing the value of your donation by 25%! Click to see more information on our current projects and how your support can help the school.

Ways to support the school

In addition to attending the events that the Friends put on, or even volunteering to help out at one, you can also donate to the school in a number of different ways
