It was really lovely to hear from the children about how much they enjoyed their little chocolate bunnies from the PTA. We noticed that hardly any of them made it past the school gates without being nibbled, which we took as a good sign!
Apologies for the hiccup with the Class 4 bunnies not being handed out; we hope that all the children have received theirs now.
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the PTA at the Quiz Night. The event raised £419.90, which is brilliant! We have also had two parents apply for matched funding from their employer, which should mean an additional donation of £700. A brilliant end to last term!
Second-hand Uniform Sale
Lots of you have been asking about the availability of second-hand uniform recently and so we have planned a couple of last minute uniform sales next week. Weather permitting, uniform will be available in the main playground from 8:30am on Thursday 26th April and again at the front of school (outside of Class 5) from 3:00pm on Friday 27th April.
If you have any second hand uniform that you would like to donate, there will be a donation point in the main playground from 8:30am on Monday 23rd April.
Yearbook Consent Form
2018 is a yearbook year at St. Thomas’ and we are already working hard on the design and content for this year’s edition.
We would love to include as many children as we can in the yearbook, but we need your consent to do so. By now you should have all received a consent form from the school asking for your permission for your children’s photograph and full name to be included.
Please ensure that your completed form is returned to school by Friday 27th April. Please note that without a signed and completed consent form, we will be unable to include your child in the yearbook.
Following on from your feedback, this year we will be hosting our family fun day event in the summer term. We’re going for a ‘Summer Holidays’ theme and have some very exciting things planned!
We hope that you will all be able to join us on Saturday 14th July from 3 – 5:30pm.
We are on the look-out for volunteers to help with the planning of the event, as well as helpers on the day. Please contact Jo Charles on Classlist or at pick-up outside Class 1 if you are able to help.
Coffee Morning at St Nic’s Church Hall
The PTA will be hosting a charity coffee morning at St. Nic’s Church Hall in Newbury on 14th June. The coffee mornings are a popular way for local charities to raise money and are always really well attended.
To maximise the fundraising potential of this event, we need donations of homemade cakes (big cakes that can be sliced rather than cupcakes are preferred by the regulars apparently!) as well as good quality items for the ‘bric-a-brac’ stall. This could be anything from unwanted Christmas presents to second-hand household items / books.
Please contact Gayle Ashby via Classlist or outside class 2 at pick-up if you are able to help with a donation.
You may be aware that data protection regulations are changing with effect from 25th May 2018. These changes will have an impact on how your personal information is used and stored by organisations, including the school and the PTA.
In order to be able to run our fundraising events, we rely on being able to process the information you provide us with. You will soon be receiving a letter from the PTA asking for your consent to store and process personal data about yourself and your children in order for us to be able to continue our work raising money for the school.
We will share with you a copy of our privacy notice, which will outline how your information will be used and stored. We will, of course, ensure that your data is kept safe and is secure. We also promise not to sell or pass your information to anyone, other than St. Thomas’ Infant School for safeguarding purposes, or where required to do so by law.
Join the PTA
As a relatively small committee, we are stretched to capacity at the moment organising events and projects to help fund the Great Change of St. Thomas’. In September, we are also conscious that we will be losing three valued members of our committee when their children move on to Year 3.
If you are able to help out this term, or going forwards into the 2018/19 academic year, we would welcome new committee members with open arms! Just let one of the Co-Chairs know – you can contact us on Classlist or catch us at pick-up; Gemma Gittins (Class 5), Jo Charles (Class 1) or Sarah Pilbrow (Class 4).
If you haven’t yet signed up to Classlist, please do. It’s a great tool for you to easily connect with other parents across the school and, going forwards, will be the first place that the PTA announce events and updates.
If you have any queries or technical issues, just let your Classlist Rep know:
Class 1 – Jo Charles
Class 2 – Gayle Ashby
Class 3 – Lucy Macleod
Class 4 – Rhoda Elvin
Class 5 – Gemma Gittins
