PTA News – 25th January 2019

After a great first term to this school year, we are already busy planning our events and activities for both children and parents alike for this term, to continue our fundraising for additional new Thinkpads and accessories for the children to develop their IT skills in school. So, here are some dates for your diary:

Valentine’s Disco

Following the success of last year’s event, which the children loved, we will be holding a Valentine’s Disco after school on Wednesday 13th February. This will also be a ‘Wear Red’ day in school ready for the Valentine’s theme.

The Great Quiz of St Thomas 2019

Our ever-popular parents’ quiz night will be on Saturday 9th March this year. Team booking forms will be with you shortly, but we thought you’d like the date for your diaries, so you can start getting your teams together and organising your babysitters!

Easter Egg Hunt

We will be rounding off the term with an Easter Egg Hunt for the children after school on 4th April. This is the same day as the school Easter Service, so will be a nice chocolatey end to an exciting day for the children. Details to follow nearer the time

Other Events

There will also be a second hand uniform sale and a Bag2School collection this term. Dates to follow, but if you would like any second hand uniform in the meantime, please contact Gayle Ashby via Classlist or on the school runs.

Plans for the Summer Term

We are also planning for events in the summer term and have a few dates already on the calendar:

1st May – Pamper & Prosecco Evening – Watch this space!

27th June – The Big Breakfast – a lovely start to Sports Day

14th July – Summer Social – Our main summer event to round off the school year before the summer holidays

Wider Fundraising Ideas and Activities

We are also looking at ways to fundraise for the school from the wider community. We are planning to host another coffee morning at St. Nicholas Church Hall in the summer term, which we did for the first time last year. We are also investigating available grants and donations from local businesses who support the community and we will keep you up to date with any developments in these areas. Plus, of course, if you work for a company which offers matched funding for any school events, that continues to be an excellent way of boosting our fundraising total.

Match funding

If you work for an organisation with a match funding programme, we would be really grateful

for your support. Last year match funding enabled us to boost our fundraising total by over

20%, so it really does make a difference to the projects we can support for the children.
